TikTok earnings calculator (UK, in £)
A rough, transparent estimate of what a brand might pay you for one sponsored TikTok video, in pounds, with every assumption shown.
The assumptions, in full
- Starting point: £5 to £15 per 1,000 average views for a video entirely about the product.
- Engagement by views (likes plus comments and shares ÷ views): 3% to 9% leaves the range unchanged. Below 3% it shrinks in proportion, to no less than half; above 9% it grows in proportion, to at most 1.7 times.
- Type of deal: dedicated video × 1, mention inside a normal video × 0.55, each video in a three-video bundle × 0.8.
- Topic: money, tech and careers × 1.3; beauty and fashion × 1.15; fitness × 1.1; travel × 1.05; everyday, food × 1; gaming × 0.9.
Worked example. A Sheffield creator averages 8,000 views, 450 likes and 30 comments and shares. Engagement by views is 480 ÷ 8,000 × 100 = 6%, inside the band. A dedicated food video: 8 × £5–£15 = £40 to £120.
These are our numbers. We picked them to keep the maths simple to follow and easy to argue with. No survey sits behind them, and real offers vary a lot.
Why we start from views
TikTok has said follower count isn’t a direct factor in For You recommendations, so most views come from people who don’t follow you. A brand paying for a TikTok is really paying for the views it expects, which is why your average views drive this estimate.
What pushes a real quote up
- Usage rights: if the brand wants to run your video as a paid ad, charge for it, usually per month.
- Exclusivity: agreeing not to work with competitors for a period is worth extra.
- UK audience share: a UK brand will care how many of your viewers are in the UK. TikTok analytics shows this.
- Proof: clicks, codes used or sales from previous campaigns.
Label it, and tell HMRC
Sponsored content must be clearly labelled as an ad: see our UK ad rules guide. Income from brand deals, including free products in some cases, can be taxable; HMRC publishes guidance for social media influencers, and the trading allowance may cover small amounts.
